FIRST MEETING
introduction
Actually today is the first meeting I learn English for Academic Purpose in the fifth semester. We only introduce our selves at this time, without learning…the lecturer know the students and the students know the lecturer.

SECOND MEETING
Definition of EFAP
At the second meeting, I learn about the definition of English for Academic Purpose (EFAP). According to the meaning which given by the lecturer, EFAP is the use of English in study settings (particularly but not exclusively in higher education).
Where the main goal is the ability to kope with students’s academic specialism. EFAP :
1. EGAP (general)
2. ESAP (specific)
So, to day we learn about that.

THIRD MEETING
Oral presentation
At the third meeting, learn about 4 language skills which includes ;
1.speaking
2.listening
3.reading
4.writing
In this meeting we talk much about skill in language, how to be a good speaker, listener, reader and also writer. Then the lecturer ask us to deliver the presentation. The good presentation is which have; introduction, content, and conclusion.

FOURTH MEETING
At the fourth meeting, the lecturer give us the syllabus.
The syllabus which is given includes;
1.Introduction
2.Definition of EAP
3.Presentation
4.Identifiying cultural
5.Convince the opposition
6.Talking textbook (reading,listening,not talking skill)
7.Appealing to your peers
8.Learning style & strategies
9.How is your genre awareness
10.A bridge to academic interest

12.Jigsaw schema skim (groupwork)

14.What is your definition
We have a text book, our lecturer gave it for us, and than we read together, listen to lecturer speak, and at last talk again about what the lecturer want from us to do to get a value in this study class, that is :
1. Daily journal : 25 %
2. Make a blog, with Autobiography + picture :25 %
3. Attendance : 10 %
4. Group work : 40 %

FIFTH MEETING
At the fifth meeting we try to search the strength and the weakness of journal review according to some criteria such as; content, title, interesting idea, pattern, references, formal language, grammar, scientific word, punctuation and spelling…
According to the criteria’ the strengths :
1. It has interesting idea
2. The content of the journal is brief and clear
3. It use the easy word, make us easy to understand
4. Using the formal language & systematic
The weakness :
1. There are some incorrect grammar & punctuation
2. There are so many repetition word
3. Title is to long & lack interesting

How to make definition
What is your definition?
Example :
A generator is a machine that produce electricity
A lawyer is a person who is qualified in legal meters.
Is a general increase in princes and fall in the purchasing power of money.
……… is a machine that produce electricity,
Usually, Common mistake went we make a definition, there are :
- Giving an examples
- Omitting general class
- Using another form of defined word
Formula to make definition :
Word to be defined (a) + verb to be (b) + general class (c) + relative clause showing particular characteristics (d)
Ex : referee is official into control the game in sport

eleventh meeting
Plagiarism / paraphrasing
In this meeting, we are learn about approaches to using outside source information in writing, then decide which approaches are acceptable and which are not.
Example :
- Taking phrases directly from various outside sources and making a paragraph by combining these phrases with your own words and adding citations
( acceptable)
- Taking phrases directly from various outside sources and making a paragraph by combining these phrases with your own words
(not acceptable)
If in our papers is founder “not acceptable approaches” than “ acceptable” approaches”, called plagiarism, otherwise, it called paraphrasing.

twelfth meeting
Citation / referencing
Citation : “ According to John (2008) a ship. “ is..”
Quotation : “ is…”
In this meeting, lecturer give a book for each group and ask the student to make a citation based on the text book given. Then ask the student to ascertain about endnote, footnote, bibliography, footnote, and references.
Different between Endnote and footnote only on the location where they take place.
